The Hellenic Community of Ottawa’s 29th Annual Gold Plate Dinner at the Hellenic Meeting & Reception Centre was a smashing success. From the meticulously crafted dinning room decor, to the streamlined production quality, to the atmospheric “New York Jazz Club” tent , guests were swept into an experience that radiated polish and class. The Hellenic Meeting & Reception Centre hosted 600 guests at the sold-out event this past Tuesday night on Prince of Wales.

The event was attended by many familiar faces, including City of Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. Guests gathered in support of two very deserving charities: the University of Ottawa’s Heart Institute and the Hellenic Community of Ottawa‘s social and religious programs. While the final donation total is still being tallied, we anticipate that the event raised over $200,000 for charity.


Majic 100’s “Stuntman” Stu Schwartz wowed audiences as the event MC and live auctioneer, raising $49,000 during the auction alone. The auction culminated in a fast-paced elimination draw that kept the audience in stitches. The elimination draw resulted in an unanticipated and very generous donation – the winners donated $20,000 back to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and the Hellenic Community of Ottawa.
