As with any creative company, continuous learning is a critical part of what makes us successful. Creative inspiration and innovation are also important elements for our team, which is why we sent Sarah Brethour, our Web Design + Innovation Specialist, to the annual RGD Design Thinkers conference in Toronto.

Design Thinkers is Canada’s largest conference for visual communicators, and this year featured 29 best-of-business Graphic Designers, Creative Directors, CEO’s and entrepreneurs in the creative industry from companies such as Target, Sagmeister & Walsh, MTV, Google Creative Lab and Adobe.

For two full days Sarah was immersed in Design Thinkers theme for this year: The Awakening. Amidst beautiful imagery of alien invasions, mixed with hilarious quirky design jokes, she experienced several ‘awakening’ and inspirational moments.

Here are just a few of the many inspirational quotes from the conference:
“Brand is the connection between its belief and its behavior.” – Todd Waterbury

“What has disrupted our industry more than anything else is the rise of mobile.” – Frederic Bonn

“Well designed ideas respect people’s intelligence – they’re built on more than novelty.” – Andrew Deitchman

“Create rituals for brands. Rituals win hearts.” – Mary Lewis

“The end goal of graphic design is to get inside people’s heads and get them to think about things differently.” – Richard Turley

“Have the confidence to fail so that you can take risks within your work.” – Jessica Walsh

“The longest way round is the shortest way home.” – Debbie Millman

“There are 7.1 billion people in the world, there are 7.2 billion smart phones.” – Dave Holston
