At MB, relationships are important to us. Throughout our 19 years of business in the Ottawa area, we have met some amazing people who are doing amazing things. So, naturally, when we get to celebrate the lives of the people we meet, we always jump at the chance. When we were asked to organize and attend our good friend Jim Miller’s retirement party from Ottawa’s one and only Miller McConnell Signs, we had to be there. From Steve Klein’s concept to Sarah and Jill’s execution, it was a success from start to finish.
The night was alive and buzzing with activity. Guests enjoyed a three-piece band (which included a keyboard, drum and upright bass) covering the classic Beatles song “When I’m Sixty-Four” which tied in to the overall party theme. There were plenty of delicious treats to be had as guests marvelled at a large cut-out sign of Jim Miller circa 1968. It was a sight to see!
During speech time, memories were shared between Craig McConnell and our CEO + Creative Director, Steve Klein. MBs’ relationship with Miller McConnell signs dates back to 2007 when Steve first met Jim Miller. As the story goes, while driving to work one day a, Steve saw a truck wrap for Nutrilawn that caught his attention. Steve called the Nutrilawn company right away in order to find out who was responsible for such a well-done wrap. Nutrilawn was happy to direct Steve to Miller McConnell Signs, and Steve called their office immediately. Jim Miller picked up the phone and the rest, as they say, is history. MB has enjoyed a strong partnership with Miller McConnell Signs and foresees this relationship lasting well into the future.
Gifts were presented including a framed tribute canvas and a scotch set of four glasses and decanter etched with the Miller McConnell Signs branding. As the glasses were being unwrapped, a bottle of single malt awaited – the perfect gift for a retired businessman!
On behalf of all of us at MB, thanks for the memories, Jim…it’s been a great ride!
